Before their games on Sunday, the Warriors were blessed to have this day's devotion and talk provided by Charleston Southern Head Baseball Coach Stuart Lake. Coach Lake was in town for his own son's games and took the time to come over and speak to our club after their time in the cages.
Coach Lake spoke about a verse he has posted in his team's dugout at CSU. The verse is Galations 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
He also discussed how his player, Chris Singleton, has handled the unimaginable event in his life. Singleton's mother, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, was one of the nine parishners killed during the shooting at the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC on June 17. Singleton has shown tremendous maturity in dealing with the national exposure stemming from the tragic event. Coach Lake mentioned how what was expected to be a small gathering of support for Singleton turned in to a large, 200+ crowd, showing how much they cared for and supported Chris and his family.
Coach Lake stressed how great of a game baseball is, and how each of these boys will forever remember the teammates that they come in contact with. The baseball web is wide-reaching and continues to grow and inter-twine each of the lives that are blessed enough to be a part of this great game.
The coaches, parents and Warrior playerers would like to say "thank you" to Coach Lake for taking his personal time to invest in our boys!
